European Women's Lobby is now recruiting a "Secretary General"
'The Voice of Women shaping the future of Europe'
The European Women's Lobby (EWL) is the largest alliance of women's
non-governmental organisations in the European Union. Our influential
voice makes a significant difference as we work together to achieve
equality between women and men, actively addressing issues affecting
economic and social justice for women; women in leadership and
decision-making; women's human rights; violence against women; and
women's diversity. As a representative membership based organisation we
operate in an open, democratic and inclusive way, working for social
change and to influence policy development and implementation within the
institutions of the European Union, and at national level across the
member states of the EU.
Reporting to the President and Executive Committee, you will be
responsible for advocating effectively for EWL, increasing our
reputation and influence within the EU and globally. You will provide
leadership and management to the team of 10 highly motivated and
committed staff, and drive the strategic development of EWL, supporting
the Executive and the Board in setting strategic direction, responding
to new challenges and opportunities, and in monitoring and evaluating
the organization's performance.
We seek an experienced senior manager with a proven record of strategic
leadership in a complex and changing policy and political environment.
Adept at balancing strategic vision with a logical, pragmatic approach,
you will have exceptional communication, interpersonal and influencing
skills. You will be financially astute, with experience of financial
planning and budget setting. A seasoned advocate and campaigner, with a
proven commitment to advancing women's equality, you must be an
influential networker, fluent in English or French and able to work
effectively in the other language. A thorough understanding of the
systems and procedures of EU institutions and the ability to travel
within Europe are essential.
